Ground Breaking Clinical Research
what does it take to find tomorrow's breakthrough in cancer research?
Investing today in the most brilliant and creative minds in science who have and will save countless lives. Some of these eminent researchers are already here in Leeds exploring new directions in cancer research. But the pace of discovery is accelerating and we need to attract even more top flight scientists to this city who will become tomorrow's leaders in cancer research.

"There are quantum leaps being made in the field of cancer research and that is why the Yorkshire Cancer Centre has to aim to be world class in this field - there are no second or third divisions."
Dr Stephen Smye, Director of Research at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
our research target is £3 million to fund a Yorkshire Cancer Centre Research Chair in Radiotherapy
Creating and funding a new Professor of Radiotherapy would complement the array of distinguished professorial staff already in post working in cancer research in the Yorkshire Cancer Centre.
The Chair will be established in the University of Leeds and will be in clinical radiation oncology. The research programme associated with this chair will significantly expand existing programmes in radiobiology, image-guided radiotherapy and treatment optimisation.
The acquisition of the IMAT radiotherapy equipment (please see separate Specialist Equipment section) will attract leading radiotherapists to the cancer centre. It will be possible to conduct national trials with this state of the art technology. Fellowships will be awarded and foreign exchanges made possible to ensure that knowledge is gleaned and shared with our world partners in radiotherapy research.
