Christmas Carols with Opera North
Steinway concert grand piano is rolled out for Opera North* Christmas delight
With outstanding support from Roundhay Music School, the first of many Christmas concerts was performed for patients, staff and visitors on 6th December in The Atrium, St James’s Institute of Oncology. Featuring five Opera North* soloists and many students of Sue Lees who organised the concert, guests delighted in some of the best-loved traditional Christmas renditions and a variety of seasonal opera gems.
Popular Yorkshire TV Presenter, Geoff Druett compered the event and added his own special touch of Christmas magic.
The superb Steinway concert grand piano was kindly loaned to Yorkshire Cancer Centre by Besbrode Piano’s for this special occasion.
Delicious mince pies - kindly donated by Salts Delicatessen were gratefully washed down with festive mulled wine.
Staging, lighting and sound was kindly donated by AV Matrix.
A surprise visit from a very busy Father Christmas put the icing on this special Christmas cake for many!
As if all that excitement wasn’t enough - over £1,500 was raised on the night from this great Christmas Cracker!
